Rules
This competition focuses on sour, fruited and mixed fermentation beer styles.
Entries are currently capped at 50 and brewers are limited to two entries but depending on number of judges and entrants this may be revised.
The competition organizers reserve the right to combine categories based on number of entries. All possible effort will be made to combine similar styles and all brews in combined categories will be judged according to the style they were originally entered in.
All entries must be handcrafted products, containing ingredients available to the general public, and made using private equipment by amateur brewers (i.e., no use of commercial facilities).
All entries must be received at the mailing/drop-off location by the entry deadline - please allow for shipping time as all entries will be picked up from drop-off locations the day after the entry deadline.
The competition organizers are not responsible for mis-categorized entries, mailed entries that are not received by the entry deadline, or entries that arrived damaged.
While qualified judging of all entries is a key goal of this competition, we will also be using this event to expose our trainee BJCP judges to the competition process. We aim to ensure that each flight will have at least one BJCP judge or professional brewer.
The Best of Show judging will be determined by a panel based on a second judging of the winners from each table.
Entry Acceptance Rules
Number of Bottles Required Per Entry: 3
We require a minimum of 3 x 330 ml (or larger) bottles or cans.
One bottle/can will be judged in the first round. A second, fresh bottle or can, will be judged if the beer progresses to Best of Show.
Remaining bottles/cans that did not progress to Best of Show and the remaining beer not assessed during Best Of Show judging will be available for sampling afterwards. Brewers are more than welcome to attend to try their own brews and fellow brewers entries.
Empty or unopened bottles and cans will not be returned.
Labelling bottles and cans
Labels should be printed from this site and attached to each bottle or can with clear packing tape (please cover the entire label).
No other label or identifiable information should be present. All requisite paperwork must be submitted with each entry and can be printed directly from this website.
Be meticulous about noting any special ingredients that must be specified on the entry system where required. Failure to note such ingredients may impact the judges' scoring of your entry.
